Spacious, lightweight and well-fitted, the Adria Adora is a Slovenian import that packs a punch.

The Adria Adora is the first European import with a slide-out to reach Australian soil. Included in the front wall is a conventional boot which is large enough for two gas cylinders, a spare wheel and space for some of the essential caravanning accessories. In addition to the front boot there is a tunnel boot, which utilises the forward space under the bed.

Earlier Adria caravans often featured a stable door-style entry, but this one has a Dometic door with an hourglass-shaped glass insert, which is in line with other recent Adria vans. The windows are the familiar top-hinging, double-glazed acrylic.


Underneath the caravan body, it’s more or less a standard Al-Ko chassis design with C-section main rails and drawbar. There are a few changes for Australia; in particular, an extra set of parallel rails running forward from the axle and an extra cross member. A feature not readily apparent to the casual observer, but one that does add weight, is the rails, which are about 1.5mm thicker than the standard Euro chassis. Up front, instead of a standard ball coupling, an Al-Ko hitch is used. Above the chassis, the insulated caravan floor is both glued and bolted to the chassis.


There’s no doubt the slide-out adds considerable space to the area around the kitchen and dinette, despite its relatively shallow (330mm/13in) depth. It does have a few interesting characteristics, though. When operating, the slide-out moves very, very slowly (I’m told that will be changed), but it is very quiet and smooth.

I’ve been in a few RVs with slide-outs where the operating mechanism is so clunky that you wonder if it’s about to break down. Not so here – it’s a delight to watch it operating. I also thought the operating switch was in an odd location, but I have been assured it will be moved in future models. Also of note is that the kitchen is still reasonably functional even with the slide-out closed.
